Book Review: For Your Own Good

Alice Miller, a German psychologist, wrote a treatise in the 1950′s on child rearing pedagogy (punishment, guilt, spanking) and the effects on the adult child later in life. She also explores how a society of adults raised in this fashion is fearful and easily manipulated by strong leaders. For Sherry it has been a book with lifelong influences on her thinking about many social situations and her own parenting practices. Presented by: Sherry Hardage
