Book Group: "Omnivore's Dilemma"
(May 14, 7:00pm-8:30pm -- Assembly Room)
The Wednesday night book discussion group has chosen to read and discuss Omnivore’s Dilemma by Michael Pollan beginning on April 9th and continuing through the end of May. We will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Assembly Room, unless there’s an accessibility need, in which case, we will meet in the Hearth Room.
A book review can be found at http://www.michaelpollan.com/omnivore.php, where you can also read the introduction and the first chapter (a total of 31 pages) as a pdf file.
One of the two CSAIs (Congregational Study/Action Issues) proposed by the UUA's Commission on Social Witness to be selected by delegates at this year's General Assembly in Fort Lauderdale is “Ethical Eating: Food and Environmental Justice”. This book would be an important one for us to become more informed regarding the social and environmental effects of our food choices.
